I am a strong believer that you dont need to wait until the beginning of the year to make changes, make them right away! But that doesn't mean that I dont make resolutions every year, they are a fun tradition. As I started thinking about 2012 and what I wanted this year to be, I want it to be the year I really get my life in order.
I have graduated college, enrolled in the CFA, {AG} will begin law school in the fall (ekk! how exciting and scary!), and it is time for me to find a big kid job, find things I enjoy doing them, and focus on enjoying life.
So my resolutions are the following...
- Make more memories. My dad always says that your life is only the stories you have. {AG} and I started our 101 in 1001 list in July, and we also have a separate winter bucket list (we just need snow)! Having this list written up also us to focus on things we want to do and get them done. Also part b of this is that I want to be able to look back on the adventure we have had and so I resolve to document and share them here.
- Read more books. Watch less TV. Pretty self explanatory but with DVR, Netflix, and all the Network iPad apps, I really have no excuse that I have to sit down and watch and get sucked into hours. I will only be watching the shows I love. I have so many books I want to read and really do love reading. I have plenty of time to catch up on all the great books out there, follow me on GoodReads. Also the Kindle offers free downloads from your library!
- Cross my ankles. Not my legs. A little more ladylike, and a bit more proper.
- Focus on the good. I will only be in Park City for a few months. {AG} and I are finally in the same city. {AG} and I will only have zero worries for a few more months. So why are we focusing on the bad things that are coming up. I need to focus on the amazing opportunity we have and make the most of our time right now because who knows what will happen in the next few months.
- Not stress over the nickels and dimes. I think that everyone and many business have become cheap and charge you for water (really starbucks you cant give me a cup of water after I spend $5+ on coffee?). I dont want to worry about a dollar or two here or there because as angry as it makes me, its so small in the big picture.
- Make more meals at home. I enjoy cooking, I enjoy grocery shopping, and I enjoy eating healthy, so why not make my own meals? I am eating Paleo more and more and it is difficult to find quick meals out, so I want to have more snacks and pre made meals ready that I can quickly take to work. Mason jar salads are the best thing I have found!
- Learn a new skill. Knitting, sewing, take a dance class, open a Etsy shop, get into spin, take yoga, learn how to cook something new, etc. Something new and fun that I can stick with.
- Take more snow walks. My family has snow shoes and yaktrax and there is enough snow for these activities. I heard someplace that couples that walk together are stronger, happier, and have a better chance of staying together. So I want to enjoy going outside, take the dogs and walk with {AG}.
- Drink more tea. Its simple. Tea makes me feel better.
- Take more photos. {AG} and I do so many great things, I want to have pictures that can remind me of the adventures.
- Use less plastic. I have a lot of issues with plastic but that is for another day. I have a reusable warm coffee cup, a cold coffee cup, a reusable glass water bottle, glass tupperware, and many other reusable items. There is no excuse for me to not use them when I am out.
What are your New Years goals?
